Hello! I’m Jenny, a digital product design and UX/UI lead with 10+ years of industry experience.

With a background in graphic design and advanced education in the field of user experience, my design approach combines creativity with a strong emphasis on research and strategy.

As a design practitioner, I aspire to humanize digital experiences by bringing user research and accessibility into my daily design practice.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, I have always approached my personal and education journey with a mix of eastern and western mindset.

I was born and raised in Hong Kong, a place that I called home that is full of Chinese and British influences. As I grew up, I have continued to embrace my cultural roots through art and food.

It was some time ago when I moved to Los Angeles to study graphic design at Art Center College of Design. I immersed myself in the art and design scene in sunny California while seeking my professional focus and philosophy. As an ESTJ (Extroversion, Sensing, Thinking, Judging) personality type, I am a “guardian” who values tradition, principles and ethics.

During my graduate study at University of Cincinnati, I intended to understand the communication pattern between people and their surrounding circles based on their behavior in news acquiring activities. I also spent time exploring how visual language can improve the informed consent process at Children’s Hospital.

Today, I enjoy life in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio with my husband John and our dog Duffy. Outside of work, I love to spend time on gardening, print making and pottery.

I believe well designed digital products can foster human interactions and connections. I seek to balance between user and business needs with intuitive and delightful experiences.

As a UX designer, I enjoy wearing multiple hats between user research and testing, strategy, workshop facilitation, information architecture (IA) and visual design systems. I love to experiment with different design thinking and research methodologies for problem solving. Some of my favorite activities are journey/ system mappings, co-creations and guerilla testing.

While I enjoy analyzing the relationships for a complex system, I also enjoy fast-paced design sprints and hackathons. I have worked with large corporations and startups on various projects from enterprise softwares, responsive websites, mobile applications to microapps.

At my current role at Cuddly, my focus is to improve the fundraising journey across all touchpoints for animal welfare organizations, our internal Cuddly users as well as any potential donors. The 2 main products I support at Cuddly are the partner management tool and donor facing website.

As a design educator, I choose to give back to my local community by nurturing the next generation of design thinkers.

As an adjunct at the University of Cincinnati, I teach interaction design on an annual basis with a focus on ecosystem thinking and web accessibility. I also work with design students on their professional development journey as part of their advanced education.

My favorite aspect of teaching is seeing how a variety of creative approaches can be applied to address the same overarching problem. This is a reminder that UX has many different aspects and is important to consider the different layers from visual surface, site structure to core strategy.
